A photograph taken the last time it was cold enough to snow in Paris. If someone asked me about the usefulness of compact digital cameras, I would be quick to point out their short-comings: noisy sensors, poor results in low light, unacceptable shutter lag. But when I look through my archives there is a surprisingly high amount of pictures made with these seemingly limited devices. This was made with a Panasonic LX3. I was carrying a full DSLR kit at the time, having just finished a job. But there are occasions – like shooting in the streets – where I feel more comfortable (and a lot less conspicuous) with a just compact.
